Six established Israeli women artists donated artworks for this line of T-shirts, which was created in collaboration with “Slut Walk TLV”. Each series of t-shirts has 50 copies with original and numbered artwork, creating an opportunity to buy artwork from top artists at affordable prices, with the t-shirt revenue donated to the “Slut Walk TLV”.
The works on the shirts deal with issues regarding feminism and gender. The concept of a clothing line of ​​original artworks creates a combination of art and protest, as the art goes outside the gallery and into our wardrobe, reaches out to as many people as possible, and transmits the ideas behind the work to the street, to everyday spaces.
Beginning in the 1960s, many feminist artists used their bodies as a political arena. The desire to express a political protest in the public sphere has brought us to the T-shirts which function as a platform for political expression. This project continues this tradition, combining feminist art with activism through an accessible, wearable consumer product.
